LOTE is now Languages
The Department of Education WA has changed the name of the learning area. 'Languages' replaces 'Languages Other Than English' or 'LOTE'.
Your child(ren) in Year 3 and Year 4 will receive reports based on the new curriculum which we had started from 2018. From 2018, it is compulsory for all Year 3 students in Australia to learn a language until they reach Year 8.
Australia's Engagement with Asia is 1 of 3 priorities in the Australian Curriculum. Indonesia is our closest neighbour, hence the language is practical and applicable.

Languages Program 2022 Initiatives SD2 Liligundi in Buleleng, Bali is our sister school through the Adopt-A-School program. We have successfully fundraised throughout 2016 to 2020 achieving a total of over $3800 to support SD2's learning initiatives both inside and outside of the classroom while improving our command of the Indonesian language and broadening our cultural awareness of the Balinese community. We will endeavour to continue our educational correspondence with SD2 Lilgundi and continue to fundraise throughout 2022, where possible. We are endeavouring to keep to our fundraising target of $500 each year with one fundraiser held each term or each semester by our student leaders. Any parental/community help is welcomed. Please see below for contact details.
Please refer to the newsletter and letters to parents/carers for more information on our Bali sister school fundraisers. This update will be provided closer to the scheduled fundraiser dates.
