ILLNESS, ACCIDENTS AND ALLERGIES
In accordance with the Department of Education and Training Student Health Care policy document Coolbellup Community School aims to make provision for:
• Students to have access to medication on a regular basis for medical conditions;
• Identified students to have access to medication when in an emergency situation;
• The control of drugs within the school; and
• Central control of medication to ensure best practice.

Illness
A child who becomes ill at school will be made as comfortable as possible. In such a situation parents will be asked to collect the child from school.
NOTE – A child who is sick is better off at home. The school does not have adequate facilities or resources to cope with sick children.

Accidents
Minor accidents will be treated by school staff, however if an accident occurs at school that is regarded as serious, parents will be notified immediately, and further action will depend on the circumstances of the injury. It is important that relevant details on contact phone numbers and emergency contacts are kept up to date.

Allergies
Coolbellup Community School aims to establish an allergy friendly environment where risks are reduced to the extent possible but where all concerned recognise the need for ongoing vigilance. It is essential that parents/caregivers inform the school of any known health care or medical condition. Once informed, the school will develop a management plan for the student.
