Contributions and charges

Contributions and charges

Schools are required to provide parents and carers with a breakdown of their requested contributions into each of the learning areas to allow parents/carers to claim their educational tax refund.

In addition, the schools, through their School Council, determine and advise parents/carers of the anticipated financial costs of the educational programs at the schools.

Staff have tried to predict costs for 2017 taking into account the programs they are planning for their classes. The charges are estimates only and will not be exceeded nor will they be required to be paid in advance. It is our intention to continue to ask for payment for activities as they occur during the year.

DEFINITIONS

Contributions: This means “voluntary contributions”. The term relates to the monies requested from parents/carers towards the cost of materials, services and facilities used by K-10 students in their educational programs.

Charges: This term refers to any costs for which payment is compulsory.

VOLUNTARY CONTRIBUTIONS

The minimum voluntary contributions component for each school is set at:

$40.00 for one child;

$50.00 for two children;

$60.00 for three or more children;

Parents/carers are invited to make a voluntary contribution up to a maximum of $60.00 per student.

All monies for both schools can be paid at the school office in either one payment or by term.

SCHOOLS’ CONTRIBUTIONS AND CHARGES

The Joint Schools’ Council has endorsed the schedule of Voluntary Contributions and Charges for 2013. The schedule is broken into sections and will allow you to calculate all costs that you might incur throughout the school year.

1. VOLUNTARY CONTRIBUTIONS

The contributions component is set at $40 per student, $50 for two children and $60 for three or more children for each school.

The Annual Voluntary Contribution has been set at a level significantly lower than the amount allowed under the Act– which is $60 per child per school.

Contributions are voluntary however, the quality of our teaching and learning program will be maximised when each family makes its contribution to the cost of supplementing funding gained from other sources, including the State and

Federal Governments.

These contributions assist with the purchase of items such as:

Technology resources

Maths resources

Library resources

Sports equipment

Reading books

Student workbooks

2. CHARGES FOR EXTRA COST OPTIONAL COMPONENTS

A breakdown of estimated charges for your child’s participation in incursions, excursions, activities, etc. for 2017 has been included.

Details collected in previous years has informed our 2017 charges schedule. Students will only incur costs when they are involved in a particular activity.

The amounts indicated on the schedule represent the maximum charge for planned activities in 2017. As in the past, you will be asked to make payment for each activity as it approaches.

3. ITEMS FOR PERSONAL USE IN THE EDUCATIONAL PROGRAM

The list of personal use items will vary from student to student and school to school.

Included with this notice is the list of materials your child will require for

personal use in 2017. These personal items are to be supplied by parents/carers

for the beginning of the school year and replaced by the parents/carers throughout

the year as required.
